As a railway contractor, the Baneservice Group helps build the infrastructure that makes transport across the Nordics cleaner and more sustainable.
Across the Baneservice Group, we work steadily and methodically to lower our own footprint, keep our people safe and run the business the right way.
Climate and the environment
We want to help move our industry towards greener, more sustainable ways of working. Our key commitments are to:
- - more than halve our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
- - avoid any major environmental discharges or serious incidents
- - sort more than 95% of our waste
Getting there means changing how we work. We are moving to zero-emission vehicles, modernising and electrifying our machinery, and supporting greener choices in daily operations, from reducing engine idling to sorting, recycling and reuse. Where materials such as sleepers, rails, turnouts and ballast can be reused, we reuse them rather than discard them.
We measure and report our emissions against the Greenhouse Gas Protocol across Scope 1, 2 and 3, from our own vehicles and machinery to electricity, heating and the wider value chain. Our environmental management follows the ISO 14001 standard.
People and society
Our first priority never changes: everyone goes home safe. We work to a zero-harm vision, and health and safety is built into how we operate. Risk assessments, safe-job analyses and the reporting of undesired incidents are part of our daily routine, based on the principle that every incident has a cause that can be addressed.
We measure employee engagement every year and use the results to keep improving. We are committed to a fair and respectful workplace, with no tolerance for discrimination, bullying or harassment.
We also want our industry to better reflect the society it serves. Rail and construction have long been male-dominated, and improving the gender balance takes time and a shared effort across the sector. Bringing more women into our companies, and into the industry, is something we work on actively.

Corporate governance
Good governance is the foundation for long-term value creation, for our owners, our people and our wider stakeholders, including clients, partners and society at large. Sound ethics sit behind our decisions, set out in a code of conduct that guides how everyone in the Group acts. We maintain robust safeguards around anti-corruption, financial control and whistleblowing, and anyone, whether an employee, a hired worker or an external party, can raise a concern openly or anonymously, in confidence and without fear of reprisal. We are committed to continuous improvement, and we are open about how our work affects the environment.

Whistleblowing
Anyone who becomes aware of censurable conditions has both the right and a responsibility to report them. Censurable conditions means breaches of laws and regulations, of the group guidelines, or of generally accepted ethical standards.
